I have some comments about location 6 in the description. To reach 'location 6' on the map, in fact, we need to turn left at the sign indicating 'Tai Shui Tseng' just after we pass Ngong Ping. Notice that at this point, we haven't reach Mau Ping.
For the point Mau Ping, refer to the map, when we see the first 'i' in the map just after crossing Ngong Ping, we need to continue with Maclehose Trail (instead of the indicated trail) and then turn left at Mau Ping. At this point, there's really a sign indicating a path to Pak Kong.
So, the description in point 6 didn't match the map. Maybe, the webmaster can further clarify us, is the map path correct or the description correct?
Notice also that for the path indicated on map, the destination is Pak Kong Au (instead of Pak Kong). The path following the description, however, leads to Pak Kong.

Just a few remarks about the path indicated on the map. I've tried this and the path is quite exposed that gives us good scene. In the middle of the path, there's a lot of resting place, with stones being arranged as seats, which, I believe, prepared by morning walkers. This is recommended for beginners.

I have been to the path you mentioned many times too. The map on our page shows the short route by-passing Mau Ping. I think both paths work. Our map shows that it goes to Pak Kong Au, and you are correct, in exact term. But people in general over there call this Pak Kong area. So, it doesn't really matter.
I am not sure if point 6 matches the map or not since I have been to both paths many times. Let me try again and if it is wrong, we can put two paths at the same time

I'm sure that the description at point 6 matches with the other way that I have mentioned in above. However, I'm not sure where is the photograph being taken.
I tried the path going to Pak Kong Au about 3 weeks before while I passed through Mau Ping 1 week before when I'm walking through Maclehose Trail Section 4. That's why my impression looks fresh.
For an esay walk, surely, both paths we mentioned are suitable as they all have clear indications throughout the route, it's also interesting for us to try alternatives, to explore around even they have the same start and end point.
Simon. Thanks.. I think, as you mentioned, we do need to include more "easy walks" cos' they are good for most of the hikers. Indeed, we don't want people to try some river trekkings based on the information on our page without proper instruction. It is simply too dangerous. We may try to put more alternatives for easy walk in the coming years. If you think there are some good paths worth mentioning, please let us know too. In fact, we always do a lot of easy walks, (and in fact, i just came back from Mui Wo) but we simply don't have enough time to put the info up on the page.

And I'm also back from Lantau Island today. Such a coincidence.
The path I have taken is worth mentioning:
Discovery Bay (Greenvate Village) -> Yi Pak Au -> Lau Fa Tung -> Lo Fu Tau -> (Arriving the edge of Golf Course ) -> Mong To Au -> A Po Long -> Tin Liu -> Ngau Kwu Long -> Pak Mong -> Tung Chung New Town
It's quite a long path and it takes me about 4.5 hours to complete. For easiness, I would say that it's not very difficult but it's about midway between 'Easy Walk' and 'Hiking' with reference to difficulty in this web.
To arrive the entrance, take the bus to Discvery Bay from Tung Chung, leave the bus at the first station after crossing the tunnel. After crossing the road and passing the buildings, the flight of steps you see at the mini car park is the entrance.
Here, you go the way up, it's a sandy road, with occasional steep slope but with staircase like rock. Difficulty of this path is medium but it takes effort to go up to the gap (Yi Pak Au) at about 150m above sea level.
After then, turn left, the path is exposed and view is good, the slope is also more gentle. Although you can see various 'path division' at different points, only one path is obvious and you will naturally pass Lau Fa Tung and Lo Fu Tau.
Continue with the obvious road, soon, you will see a reservoir downward at the front and then go around the inner edge of the golf course. After descending further, you will see a gap there with another trigonmetric station just opposite to you. The gap is Mong To Au.
Upon arriving Mong To Au, you should be very careful. Firstly, don't go upwards to the trigometric station I mentioned. Secondly, you can see an obvious path leading to the left near Mong To Au, turn left to this path.
Continue with this path, you will descend further and you will soon go into places with denser trees, it's important then to keep selecting the left way, don't select the right path and don't go up to another hill at the left. Sooner or later, you will find a several cement blocks placed over a river for crossing, that's the correct route.
After then, you will arrive cement road. Turn left will go the Mui Wo and turn right will go to Tung Chung.
This time, I select the right path. This cement road is long. It's interesting for you to see such a well made path within ranges of quite hills on both sides. After slight ups and downs, you descend and go through Tin Lu and Ngau Kwu Long. You can get good village 'feel' here (these villages are cleaner than the one at N.T. beside a road ).
The obvious path continues and you will reach another village Pak Mong. The path ends with a tunnel crossing North Lantau Highway. To go to Tung Chung, go up to the flight of steps at the left just before the path ends. (There's a sign indicating 'constructed by Lantau...') at the entrance.
After going up the steps, firstly you walk through narrow cement path. More 'original' sandy path appears later. Here, the path is a quite narrow with slight ups and downs, take care when walking through here. You can see the Highway runs parallel with you on your right side.
Upon the end, the path widened and become cement type again. Finally, it ends at the bicycle trail of Yu Tung Court.
I would add one additional point for the route mentioned by Simon: at Pak Mong it is also possible to get a bus from the service road along the North Lantau Highway to return to Tung Chung town. You can save nearly 1 hour of walk.
Look for the New Lantau Busstop sign along the road when you get to the tunnel crossing the Highway. But also note that the bus is very infrequent (something like 5 or 6 bus per day!) and better check the schedule beforehand.
