Hi,

Great web site! Would anyone know which mobile phone company provides the best coverage and reception in the country parks?

Thanks

I have used CSL 1010 all along despite its cost is the highest. I continue to use it because I am still confident in its coverage for remote areas. When I did hiking with friends, we took out our phones of different network providers for comparison in their network ability. When all others work, my phone works (but not vice versa).

I think the coverage of many companies is improving. The situation may be different nowadays. But one thing holds true: GSM is a must for remote area network. Don't use PCS alone (which does not cover well in remote areas). CDMA is also inferior to GSM.

I am also using CSL (but is one2free) dualband. The coverage is good but sometimes cannot connect while 1010 is still connected. In recent times Smartone dualband can usually provide coverage as good as CSL. Hitchson Orange is not advisable. Even though it is GSM/PCS dualband, the coverage is often poorer than many PCS network.

One further point to note: for some really remote area at the edge of HK (but facing Mainland China), China-roaming is a useful back-up. China Telecom or China Unicom are often available where there is no signal from HK network.
