You mention poisonous plants, such as wax tree, but pictures would be very useful as I've had rashes from plants in HK before (including right now), but don't know what to look for to avoid.
Thanks.

The Best book to consult is "Hong Kong Tree: omibus volume" by S.L.Thrower (post-lecturer of the CUHK) published in 1988 by the Urban Council. An excellent book for learning plants. It have a close up of Wax tree and detail description in p. 369 & 366 under the scientific name 'Rhus succedanea'. It's leaves turn red as it get old (after summer,as in the picture in p.366). You can easily borrow it from any library but, unfortunately, it is no longer available for sale! It is likely that our beloved SAR Government think that it is politically incorrect to sell them as they carry the logo of the former Urban council!!!

P.S. You can not imagine how many different things different human beings are allergic to. I personally is allergic to caterpillar (and is suffer from it at this momment) but not to Wax Tree!! Very often, some mites/ticks produce equally violant reaction as Wax Tree. So you need to test it scientifically to confirm the actual allergant, and please down put the blame on Wax tree all the time. But be careful, allergic reaction could be dangerous or fatal!! I know people that would run into coma if in contact with Wax tree!
